Sookie Stackhouse now you listen to me....I don't do vampire books...I rarely do romance books....I'm not overly into mystery books.
But Ohhhhh Sookie! When you combine the 3 into one. Well all I can say is I'm hooked...um I mean bitten.
I'm blamin' this on the Kindle...you know that hunk of plastic that I read on. Someone recommended the first book. I downloaded it to give it a try by the end I was bitten by the Sookie bug. And it's just to darn easy to be curled up in my reading chair at 10:30 at night. Finish reading a book in the series and you can't help yourself you download the next book without moving a muscle. Which explains how I've burned through the first 6 books in the last week and a half. AGGGHHH! To make up for this literary faux pas I downloaded Anna Karenina to read when I'm done with the latest Sookie book. That should atone for my sins nicely.
Anyway The Southern Vampire Series aka Sookie Stackhouse Books....are total escapism. Nothing life changing going on here. But oh how you get sucked right in. If your lookin' for a brain vacation and the TV just doesn't do it for you....look no further.
So are you pro Vampire? Have you actually read the Sookie Books? Or are you completely mortified by this small peak into my bookshelf?

I'm not sure I'm so into the Vampire scene... I still want to read the Twilight series, just because everyone is reading them. The movie was okay, but doesn't make me want to run out and knock over little kids to purchase them. I liked Interview with a Vampire, but didn't read beyond it... I MIGHT check out this series just because it dragged you in so much. :)
I know I'll at least do a little research on them, :)

The Sookie books are a mind vacation...nothing deep going on but I needed a break. I'm going to save the last two in the series for sometime later....I find with this last book that I'm really wanting to read something else.
Vacation must be over I guess!

I read two of the Twilight series and liked them both; but then got a little tired of them... Was hooked by "True Blood" on TV the first season, which I assume is based on Sookie, but was seriously put off by some aspects of the production (a bit too R rated for me in spots I think) Wwell. I am definitely going to try the "Sookie books!"
Yes Janie....if my Kindle had a butt I would be stuck up it.

The first page I read, and I am thinking what is a kindle, and who is Soukie, and this woman READS! at least 6 books in a week. She is my kind of blogger. Oh and she built herself a bookshelf, for all her books. Consider me a follower.

Tami, it's been interesting reading your reaction to your Kindle and how you've come to have a relationship with it. You are my case study in Kindles (from afar). I am having a hard time letting go of the idea of bound books only, but you are doing your best to open my mind a bit. :)It definitely sounds like an easy way to get sucked in -- hassle free. And glad to know you can still curl up in a corner with it. But is it hard to go back and "flip" through the pages? Are there any downsides besides loss of the smell and feel of a real book? Okay, I'll wait for your answer. :) Thanks for keeping up with my blog a bit. I always love knowing you've stopped by. We didn't have ice-cream trucks either growing up but I still remember when they came to the home we were visiting in Kansas. Fun times!

Roxane, I've been meaning to do a downsides to Kindle post. I will fit that in this week. There are a couple of things that I don't like about it. Be on the look out.
I didn't get sucked (no pun intended, right?) in to Sookie because of the Kindle, but I am sucked in, nonetheless. I totally agree that it's escapist reading and what the heck, it's summer and times are tough. A little escapism is a good thing.
I love books and reading and feel like such a total loser because I haven't read any of the Twilight books or the Harry Potter books. What is wrong with me?
Christine....yes. Escapist reading that's what this is. Times are tough....yes! I'm now vindicated by my choice in reading materials!!!!! Thanks so much....I just love a good excuse.
