JRTCA Redstone Charlotte aka Charlotte Pup Pup, enjoying a mid afternoon nap in front of window in my office.  Dreaming of Groundhogs, I'm sure.

The Shadow Side, New Wilmington PA Pet Photographer

Clarice, Irish Jack Russell Terrier

Amazing light can happen anywhere.  This photo was taken on the floor of my office.  I love shooting from the shadow side...not just for dogs but people too.

Sand Crabs VS Jack Russell Terriers

It's always so fun to take Charlotte to the beach.  She's a well traveled Dog.  She's been to Malibu on the West Coast and several beaches up and down the Eastern Seaboard.

One thing is for certain...Sand Crabs are a big hit with Jack Russell Terriers. From our first walk on the beach about 20 minutes after we arrived she was on full alert.

Winter Chores

IMG_8961_edited-1.jpg

Charlotte geared up for a barn chores. I'm not the type to play 'dress up' with my dogs. But this little coat has made it through three JRT's and is still getting the job done on the coldest days of the year. It's certainly nice to have Charlotte in the barn for the 2 hour muck out on Saturday morning...this time of year the rodent population is on the rise and she is pretty quick on making sure that they are not going to make it out of winter alive!

A Happy Jack

IMG_7436 1.psd

A very happy JRT enjoying our Indian Summer here in Western PA! Not the sharpest of pictures....but I love her happy go lucky face. Not to mention those short stout legs of hers.

Fall Color

IMG_6198.JPG
Saturday while on my walk I made a mental note to come out to this field and shoot between these beautiful rows of Acer rubrum 'Franksred' aka Red Sunset Red Maple. I badgered my husband to no avail yesterday. But today he gave in and came out with me.

And he brought the lovely Clarice with him as well. And since I'm an equal opportunity blogger and I do not discriminate between long legged (JRTCA) and short legged (Irish) Jack Russell Terriers. I'm posting her as well.

No post of my husband would be complete without a demonstration of his incredible grumpiness! The contrast between his sweet tempered girl and himself is amazing don't cha think?

Can I Get An Amen?

IMG_6144_edited-1.jpg

I have no idea what fixed this problem. I've deleted programs, reloaded programs...turned firewalls on and off....reset to an earlier date. Whatever it was it worked. Thanks for the suggestions everyone! One of them worked.

Now just to figure out how to best post my Project 365 back log. Maybe put them in my Flickr account and post the link.

Picture of Charlotte taken this afternoon in the pasture. Today was a glorious day in Western Pennsylvania.....weather wise and other.

Day 38 - Got Catz?

IMG_5626.JPG

A Jack Russell Terrier to the bone. She enters the barn flat out and searches all her favorite little hidey-holes for vermin. She only found a cat this day...and cats are strictly prohibited.

Although....I'm sure....that she thinks that cats are vermin!

Day 14 - Riding With Dad

Clarice....she has to be on the go. In the truck, jeep, 4 Wheeler and now the tractor she is turning into quite the boss.

I'm having a real problem converting from RAW to JPEG. I'm losing a crazy amount to detail....especially sharpness. Can anyone help me out with that, cause I'm doing something wrong?

Day 6 - The End

It's okay Charlotte we'll find another activity for fall.....

Charlotte watching the polo ponies leave the field for the last time this season Friday night in Darlington. It's a total bummer.....totally! Sitting here thinking about it is brining on a hissy fit, I can feel it comin'....I think I need a snack and a nap.

Polo Revolution

Now...can anyone figure out what point this guy is trying to make? He's rockin' a Che Guevara T-shirt, American flag, fanatical fan face paint, and a good ol' hamburger and french fries....at a polo match. Really I just want to understand....

Of course someone we all know and love took this to heart......
She came home and immediately set to work on her 'Manifesto'. She has some surprising and shocking views regarding Cats and Pet Health Insurance.

Puppies, kids, warm summer afternoons....it's a good life!

Sisterella had a recent addition to the family. A Mastiff puppy named Diesel. He is going to be BIG.

Are you a dog person? Big dogs, little dogs, size doesn't make a difference?

Size doesn't matter to me....I like a big attitude though....but you knew that already right.....because of the Jacks!

Runnin' With The Big Dogs

This is my husbands version of walkin' Clarice. It's not really very effective at workin' off the pounds on her little round self. But as soon as she hears the quad fire up she is right there. He gets a kick out of listening to her.

Huh? What? Listening?

Yeah...she howls the entire time it's movin' the faster he takes her the louder she howls.

It's 'pee your pants' funny!

Eyebrows

Pup-Pup is well on the mend. She is still on leash lock down. Which as you can see is a major bummer for her.

Tough Lil' Cuss

One thing I love about Jack Russell Terriers is there tough as nails attitude. I mean nothing will deter them. NOTHING! Take for example Charlotte's missing eyebrows in the above photo. That was due to this little guy in the bottom photo. That is a groundhog. The photo was not cropped....I was close. And not by choice.
Check out those big honkin' teeth. They chatter them together when under attack. I'll assure you that does not make a Jack Russell scared. Quite the opposite. It creates an uncontrollable blood lust in them.
I love tough. I do. But I wish you could teach a Jack the difference between tough and fool hardy. By the time I located Charlotte, went back to the garage for a shovel and pair of sharp lopers to cut undergrowth. Over to the Sugar Shack for boots, a long sleeve shirt, and gloves. And hacked my way into the old fence row and mess on the property border...she was in a fine frenzy. The Groundhog was chattering for all it was worth. Charlotte was bleeding profusely from the mouth where she was bit on the tongue. Not to even mention the abrasions from above the eyes.
Charlotte's on the mend. The Groundhog? Well he definitely didn't die that day. The hole he was working on is abandoned. I'm not sure if he will come back to finish it. Maybe once the path I had to cut is filled back in. But the Groundhog thought he won. You should have heard the ungodly sound he made when I finally grabbed onto Charlotte and pulled her out of the brambles. It was like a victory cry. I ways rollin' my eyes thinkin' he should be thankin' me for savin' his cotton pickin' lil' life.

Happy Snappy

Snapdragon...aka Antirrhinum majus.  Picture taken this spring at Phipps Conservatory in Pittsburgh, PA.
Last night Charlotte went on walkabout.  Now this is an issue that scares me greatly.  As she is one of those Jack Russell dogs....and they can get caught up with the wrong crowd.  I'm thinking Raccoons...I'm thinking Coyotes....I'm thinking Groundhogs.  I much prefer that we go walkabout together.  We went to the barn at about 8pm to do the last check.  Usually she stays right around the barn yard.  Well last night she just took off like a shot.  She finally came home around midnight.  Not a bit beat up.  Just a little dirty.  She was definitely digging on something.
She wasted no time jumping into bed and diving under the covers.  Lights off after that and a good nights sleep.  There is no way I was going to bed until she was back to the 'sugar shack'.
