Thank You All

I did it!  I'm now under one virtual roof....
...Blog
...Website
...Portfolio
...Client Proofing

For the last year I've wanted to do this.  But I didn't want to leave my old blog here behind....so I put it off. But started blogging more infrequently as I didn't feel this old blog was a good representation of who I've become.

Thank you all for following along here.  I'm so thankful for all the connections I've made here...the new friends....and the start of a new creative journey.

I hope you will join me on a new blogging journey at http://tamiweingartner.com/blog/

See you all soon!

I've seen this look before.....on my husbands face! Looks like all the 'men' in my life and not so happy to have their pictures taken these days.

Blue Skies in January

IMG_8725_edited-2.jpg

Happy Thanksgiving, Merry Christmas, Happy New Year and Happy Birthday to me! All in various states of belatedness.

I've been a very naughty blogger. And for this I apologize. But I'm ok....no really I'm better than ok.....things are really good here in PA. I have many pictures to process and get uploaded and certainly much to say.

But for now.....I've posted a picture of my lovely boy taken this past Saturday....when for the first time in about a month we actually had blue skies. Which for Western PA in mid-winter is a cause for celebration in itself.

Hay you

ATTENTION:

I am the proudest little picture taker EVER!

My photo titled 'The Old Bank Barn' won 2nd place in a photography contest. I have to thank everyone who comments on this blog for your lovely remarks about that particular shot...as it gave me the courage to enter it. You can view the picture with it's shiny gold star at Learn to Take Photos, which is a online photography school where I've purchased a couple of tutorials (one of which is helping me get over my 'photoshop disability') and taken two online classes. The school is run by two fantastic photographers, Laura Cotterman and Christina Handley. Check the school out and be sure to click on the Photography Tips tab. There is a bunch of easy to understand information about photography.

Anyway....back to me...... Thank you blog readers.... your critiques and comments are so helpful. And I so enjoy our interaction here and at your blogs.

Obie

What your opinion on this type of photo. I was drawn to it in the group because his whole self filled the frame. And of course I know him...so I think that this captured his 'self' really well. It's probable a little bit overexposed.

Lights Camera Action

Okay so I'm a tad bit obsessed with my new camera. Just a wee bit. The only problem is that I'm taking so many pictures that I don't have time to learn to use Photoshop...I've been wanting to address some trouble spots on some of my shots but have not had the time to sit down and teach myself. But I find that I'm wanting to post. I'm making progress on this Manuel mode thing.

This is my boy Obie...he recently had his 18th birthday. No matter where he is, or how green the grass is, he always comes running when he spots me. I love that. Can you feel the love?

Dirty Boy

My lovely dirty boy!

The paddock is a muddy disaster area. A perfect rolling ground. Every morning Obie goes out and rolls to his hearts content. And every evening I bring him in the barn and curry the mud and loose hair off. This process makes my heart sing. It says spring to me as much as the greening grass, chirping sparrows and budding trees.

P.S. Batten down your bonnets and your toupee's.....The inner 'tree freak' is starting to kick in. Lookout for wacky tractor posts and dirty big ball talk.  What? Huh? Your blushin' already? Come on .... you know you couldn't wait for digging season to start!

In The Summertime...

When the weather is yucky like this and there is no riding to be done other than bareback around the field. I think of summer and I can not wait to ride my boy. He will be 17 this year...but he is mostly retired so really hard work is out of the question but he has a big heart and enjoys carting me around and around and around.  And he enjoys getting out of the barn and is sound as can be for 'light' duty.

On a totally separate note...this picture was taken with a 35MM film.  I scanned it in to my computer but the image is not good.  Any tips on scanning?  I have a LOT of picture to get scanned in....and would like the clarity to be better than this?

Wrinkels

I love a lot of things about Obie.  But there is one particular thing that I love about horses in general (well okay, there are many things I love about horses in general, were just gonna' talk about one of those).  When horses drink water they wrinkle up their nose.  Or officially their muzzle's.  I love those wrinkles.  Especially in the fall and winter, cause those wrinkles have fur.  And for some odd reason furry wrinkles are even more adorable.

Aren't they cute....the wrinkles?  The muzzle wrinkles.  Don't cha' just want to kiss those wrinkles... to nuzzle the muzzle!

The Horse for Me

There is no better way to see the world then from the back of a horse. The woods are greener. The air cleaner. The mountains steeper. The clouds bigger. Wildlife is less skittish. And you can hear yourself think.

Obie is the horse for me. He came to me after a 4 year search following the death of Tee. I looked and looked. I bought and sold. I had friends buy horses for me. I had a trainer buy me a horse. And finally in a last ditch effort Obie came to me for $1 and a trade. And that was that. The horse for me was him. I could wax poetic about him. But that would not do him justice. Obie's not an easy keeper. Not easy to ride. Strangely phobic.

But....

I have been softened in attitude by seeing things through those big brown eyes of his. He has made my world infinitely better by his mere presence in it.

What more can a person ask.
