For the last year I've wanted to do this.  But I didn't want to leave my old blog here behind....so I put it off. But started blogging more infrequently as I didn't feel this old blog was a good representation of who I've become.

Thank you all for following along here.  I'm so thankful for all the connections I've made here...the new friends....and the start of a new creative journey.

I hope you will join me on a new blogging journey at http://tamiweingartner.com/blog/

See you all soon!

Snow Storm Cleanup

IMG_9889_edited-1.jpg
Saturday the 6th of February

So if your in the United States...you know that were getting absolutely hammered with snow here in Pennsylvania. I'm not complaining, at the farm we just deal. Keep the roofs clear buy standing on loader buckets and scrapping them off with long handled brooms. Our little 'sugar shack' is a snug home. The commute to the office is a short walk thanks to hubby plowing me a path to the barn and office.

It does make for tricky internet and phone connections. And 60,000 homes in Pittsburgh are still without electric (since this past saturday) according to today's news. Brrrrrr....it's got to be cold in those houses. Hopefully they will not have frozen pipes. Pennsylvania is in a state of emergency but all is well out here in New Wilmington.

Day 9 - A River Runs Through It

Dear Mr. President Obama (if that is the wrong salutation I apologize),

Please send money....

We have crumbling infrastructure here at the farm. The main line from the Well that feeds all our homes and buildings is slowly deteriorating. I woke up this morning and went out to walk the dogs only to find that the 'Sugar Shack' now has a mote. That's right.....a mote.

Please do not send Home Land Security, ATF, NSA, FBI, or the CIA.... we did not plan the mote. It is not part of a farm home security plan. We have a busted main line.

Please send some 'Infrastructure Funding'. You know that bill you passed to fix up the roads, bridges, dams, electrical grid, water ways.

Do not send a team of engineers, OSHA, DER, DEP, Prevailing Wage workers and supervisors, the operators union, a host of brand new shiny equipment. We don't want to turn a $80 job into a $80,000 job.

Just send the check.....80 bucks will do......I'll be waiting.....

Sincerely,

Pennsylvania Wild Woman

P.S. It's the only money were asking for.....we've been bailout free since 1902.

P.P.S. Of course if you decide to extend the 'Cash for Clunkers' program to include farm machinery our 1948 Hi-clear sure could used replaced....we bought it new, paid cash too, it still runs....it's just a little rough.

Day 8 - Keepin' It Real

My husband just does not like my camera....no that's wrong.....

My husband does not like my camera pointed at him.......errrrrm still not quite accurate.....

My husband does not like my camera pointed at him when he is trying to deliver a serious safety message regarding firearm safety to me.

He says I don't pay attention.

I do pay attention....but I'm a woman...and therefor can multi-task EXTREMELY well.

I still love you, you grumpy bugger.....even though you growl and scowl at me.

P.S. If you don't accept my multi-tasking capabilities as normal...I'm going to make you go to couples counseling....trust me....you won't like it there. They will make you talk about your FEELINGS. That's right....feelings....no more mind reading and body language interpretation for me. You will be required to talk about what your feeling. Are you scared...huh huh are you.....you should be. LOL!!!

The Sugar Shack Gets Tricked Out Vol. 2

Bookshelves!!!
I had the wall recessed in a bit for the walk in closet so the door could be flanked with book shelves. Unfortunately I only have half my books unpacked. So the shelving has been a slow and tedious process....I'm having to pick the ones I want to keep and recycle the ones that I'm not totally enamored with.
Anyway this was step numero uno in the 'Sugar Shack Trick Out'. Storage. So I lost a little space in the bedroom. But I gained a nice size walk in closet and a wonderful set of built in shelves. There was much debating on between me...Dad...the builder...and hubby on the finish of the shelves. My Dad and the builder wanted me to stain and poly urethane the shelves. But as you the entire dimension of the house is only 540' sq ft. So keeping that in mind I decided that I just wanted to paint everything the same color as the bedroom walls.
What do you think....are you for the monochromatic look or should I just have stained them?

The Sugar Shack Gets Tricked Out Vol. 1

As you know from previous posts....I moved in November thinking, hoping, praying that it would only be a temporary move.  But as you also know....it's turned into a permanent move.  Life in then 'Sugar Shack' is interesting...especially now that my hubby has installed himself in here with me.  It's a 540 sq ft. building that started it's life as a cutting room for a greenhouse, morphed into a chemical shed, re-morphed into a lunch room, then morphed into my office, morphed again into a rented office space.  And now is my house.  It's had quite an interesting history here on the farm.  I am so very thankful for it's existence.  Also for the way it has served my family over the last 90 odd years.

The 'Sugar Shack' as hubby dubs it...has a desperate need for a closet.  With only 540 sq ft to work with you have to be careful how you use space.  This little nook was in the bedroom.  And the bed fit perfectly there.  It was wonderful nestled back in there.  But storage in this little building was a problem.  So I decided to give up my bed nook for a walk in closet.

Yeah baby...that's right.  A walk in closet in a 540 sq ft home.

Sometime right before this project started I decided to take my closet idea one step further.  Can you guess what I'm going to do?
Take a guess and I'm  going to pick one answer that is either correct or possible pee your pants funny...  and you will be the recipient of the drink of your choice from Starbucks...that's right...STARBUCKS.  Can you say Vanila Rooibos Tea Latte, can you say Carmel Macchiaoto, can you say Strawberries & Cream Frappuccino, can you say Shaken Iced Tea Lemonade.
Winner must have an activated Starbucks card and I will load the prize on it.
